Washington Avenue is a unique shopping and dining corridor serving Prospect Heights residents and visitors to the major art and cultural institutions in the surrounding area: Brooklyn Botanic Garden , Brooklyn Children’s Museum , Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Public Library , Prospect Park , and Prospect Park Zoo. Framed by the borough’s major thruways, Eastern Parkway and Atlantic Avenue, Washington Avenue is a strategically positioned strip that boasts a vast array of shops and restaurants to suit every inclination.

Dynamic Washington Avenue reflects the diversity of the Prospect Heights neighborhood, and has something for everybody. Like it's neighborhood residents, Washington Avenue businesses are an eclectic mix of old and new, with a multicultural flavor. Diverse eateries abound: aromatic Thai food, hearty Greek cuisine, authentic Jamaican home cooking and the legendary Tom’s Restaurant with its familiar brunch lines bending around the corner. The A and C subway lines to the north, the 2 and 3 subway lines to the south, and the B and Q subway lines to the east, along with local 45 and 65 bus lines, provide commuters easy access to Washington Avenue.  Also, The HOB Connection is a FREE shuttle that Heart of Brooklyn runs on the first Saturday of each month between Target First Saturdays at Brooklyn Museum and places to eat, drink, and shop in the neighborhood.
